5 Ups And 8 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (March 9th)

1. This Is Not Sting

Right off the bat, yes, Sting is contractually limited to just a few appearances. And having Sting deliver an in-ring promo would have shattered whatever mystique he has. But Monday night€™s vignette was just awful. Probably the toughest thing to swallow right away was the voiceover. It clearly wasn€™t Sting, but the person spoke in the first person. Maybe if it sounded like it was an altered voice, you could accept that Sting was running his promo through a vocoder. But that wasn€™t the case. If you got past that, you then had to accept Sting€™s reasoning for seeking out Triple H. And the reason was, Triple H€™s power and ego had corrupted and destroyed others€™ lives. Sting saw the same thing bring about WCW€™s demise €“ despite his best efforts to prevent it €“ but now he is going to €œtake down€ Hunter. The best part? Sting has €œwaited 14 years to do it.€ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hZUMQd3m9gM So wrap your head around that. Fourteen years ago, WCW folds and is absorbed into WWF/E. Sting fades into the ether. Triple H emerges as the corporate head of WWE about a decade later. The Authority makes life difficult for WWE superstars, so Sting decides to step in and stop Triple H. Sting, the guy who never set foot in WWE before Survivor Series 2014, is coming to defend WWE against Triple H. If Sting wins at WrestleMania, does this mean the Authority is out of power? Because unless that is the stipulation, all Sting can do is deal Triple H his fourth Mania loss in five years. Feel the tension!
