5 Ups And 8 Downs From WWE Stomping Grounds

DOWNS…

8. What’s In A Name?

We’ve been over this before, and a lot has already been said about it, but really, it’s just that bad.

Stomping Grounds.

The closes thing to a “hometown boy” returning to his stomping grounds Sunday night was probably Daniel Bryan, who was born in Aberdeen, WA, about 80 miles away from the Tacoma Dome. And the crowd certainly was keyed into that fact.

There are 150 things wrong with WWE right now that needs improving, and PPV names is probably 137 on that list. But it’s also something that should be easy to fix: Don’t give dumb names to B-PPVs.

It would be one thing if this had shaped up to be a barnburner of a PPV, but the card was a retread of Super Showdown and Money in the Bank, magnifying the stupidity of the name. And that’s to say nothing of the idiotic tagline that they made every wrestler say: Time to kick ass and take names.

Because nothing says originality and reality like universal canned promo lines.
