Can you imagine “Macho Man” Randy Savage without Miss Elizabeth back in 1987-88? Or Shawn Michaels without Sensational Sherri? Or Edge without Lita? All these women were integral to their charges’ success and were constant presences at ringside, whether they interfered or just provided support.

Zelina Vega and Andrade aren’t on that level, but their business relationship is. Vega is key to Andrade’s character and his in-ring performance. We even saw her help her partner out against Finn Balor last week.

But Vega was not by Andrade’s side at Super Showdown due to the PPV taking place in Saudi Arabia. Her absence wasn’t explained, and Andrade went on to lose a closely contested match.

Obviously, WWE couldn’t say that Zelina wasn’t ringside because Saudi Arabia doesn’t allow women to have the same level of equality they do elsewhere in the world, but this is a perfect instance of where that restriction was noticeable to observant fans.
