5 Ways AEW Has Changed Professional Wrestling For The Better

2. Listening To Their Fanbase

We all remember the 2015 Royal Rumble. It was the start of a long-term feud between the WWE and its beleaguered fanbase.

There was never a bigger example of the WWE not listening to their fanbase than with Roman Reigns. Let’s get it straight, Reigns is a phenomenal sports entertainer. He can go in the ring, oozes star and sex appeal and can hold a promo. Trying to make him the next John Cena was a big, six-year-long mistake.

AEW isn’t perfect but it does listen to criticism. The infamous Elite beatdown by the Dark Order required a massive course correction and thanks in no small part to the incredible performance of the late, great Jon Huber, the Dark Order went from a busted flush to a key part of one of the best wrestling storylines in decades. AEW listened.

Sure, a few wrestlers may overindulge at times but the company very quickly pivots. It was just a matter of weeks from Cody’s ill-advised ‘MURICA’ promo against Anthony Ogogo and the stunning work he did with Malakai Black.

The fans don’t run the company, but they are the ones you want to please and there only feels like one company that has that on their mind.
