5 Ways AEW Has Changed Professional Wrestling For The Better

1. They Brought Back The Excitement (And Not Just For The Fans)

This is the big one.

The wrestling world has never felt more exciting, and all that energy is directed at AEW. WWE are an iron-clad money-making machine, but to most fans, there is only one place to go to see an exciting show. The place where top WWE stars are leaving to go to. A place where misused ‘Ex-WWE Guys’ are finding the freedom and exposure they craved and the younger, lesser-known talents are allowed to grow.

The likes of Moxley, Miro and Malakai Black have never felt more relevant. The young stars on the roster are duking it out with the established ones. It feels like a living, breathing roster that is bursting with potential. And it just got better.

Make no mistake about it, CM Punk, Bryan Danielson and Adam Cole are big gets. Very big.

These aren’t guys who were cut from WWE. They are guys who walked away. Danielson and Cole are widely considered two of the best in the world, and CM Punk is an icon to many. They could have stayed with the WWE but they felt the same excitement the fans do. You only need to check several WWE Superstar Twitter accounts to see the envious glances some of those are shooting at the AEW roster.

It is unlikely that AEW will ever dominate the American wrestling landscape or topple WWE from their tower. But they are causing a rumble as loud as the chants that CM Punk extracted when he walked out at the United Centre.

And the world of professional wrestling is all the better for it.
