5 Ways AEW Is Appealing To Millennials (And 5 Ways It’s Failing)
4. Failing - Too Little Focus On The Women
The other big complaint about AEW is that their women’s division has often felt like an afterthought. And while in the early days there were some excuses for this given the fact that they were pretty much building a roster of rookies from the ground up, we’re now at a point where the likes of Britt Baker, Thunder Rosa, and Ruby Soho are either stars or on the verge of becoming stars.
On top of this, there’s a solid foundation working around these women, with names such as Kris Statlander, Hikaru Shida, Jamie Hayter, and Serena Deeb more than able to hold their own in the ring all while, below them, a promising crop of fresh prospects like Tay Conti, Anna Jay, Jade Cargill and Leyla Hirsch continue to get better every week.
So with that in mind then, maybe its time to give them more than one match per episode of Dynamite? After all, if they do this and focus on building a more diverse roster, perhaps those younger viewers who demand such things in their products will start coming in in higher numbers.
