5 Ways For WWE To Fix Asuka

4. Find A Worthy Challenger

When Asuka's match against Lacey Evans at Elimination Chamber 2021 was scrapped, with no replacement bout being offered to placate fans of the Empress, it highlighted the two biggest problems of Asuka's reign: she is routinely treated as an after-thought, and she has suffered from a lack of credible opponents.

No disrespect to Lacey Evans, but she is not a viable contender to replace Asuka as champion. Neither were Zelina Vega, Mickie James or Lana, but they inexplicably found themselves vying for the belt against arguably the best female in-ring worker in the company.

The only big-name challenger Asuka has faced in her second stint as Raw Champion has been Alexa Bliss, and Asuka was booked to job cleanly to her in a non-title match to set up the bout. Even worse, Asuka only retained when Randy Orton interfered by dropping Alexa with an RKO.

This is not rocket science. You cannot have a babyface champion look strong when they only retain the belt against B & C-tier talent, and it's especially egregious to make them look weak the one time they do defend the strap against a fellow A-Lister.
