5 Ways WWE Can Improve The Cruiserweight Division

3. Give The Other Cruiserweights Something Meaningful To Do

So far with the Cruiserweight division, it seems that only two wrestlers at a time can have a purpose, those two people being the champion and the challenger. The rest of the division are little more than background characters, wrestling each other for no other reason than because it is their job and they need to fill time until they get a shot at the Cruiserweight title.

During the Cruiserweight Classic, all the competitors had one goal: to win. Easy. Now that they're on the main roster, they need new motivations, but instead they just get thrown into an inconsequential singles or tag team match here and there. The Cruiserweights need some more rivalries, maybe even a stable or two. As mentioned in the last post, all that is required is for the Cruiserweights to be given a little more attention from the creative department.

Obviously, not all of the division can be chasing the title at the same time, but the others could at least be fighting and climbing over each other to prove who should be next in line. Moreover, with a heel Cruiserweight Champion, a couple of the other high-fliers could act as enforcers, beating down whoever happens to be the number-one contender, until eventually the group fractures and creates more story lines.

There are many different possibilities and all it needs is for WWE to find enough motivation to put some of them into action.

Ten years ago, Chris was sent to prison by a military court for a crime he didn't commit. He promptly escaped from a maximum-security stockade to the East Midlands underground. Today, still wanted by the government, he survives as a WhatCulture writer. If you have a problem... if no one else can help... and if you can find him... maybe you can hire...
