5 Ways WWE Have Damaged Bray Wyatt
4. Too Much Witchcraft
Let me preface this by saying I am not against the supernatural in wrestling, and understand that these fantastical elements are all part of the show. When Undertaker shows up and shoots lightning from the ceiling, the audience is enraptured and rightly so. It is a show after all, entertainment is the name of the game and there is definitely a place for it.
Bray Wyatt is also an obviously supernatural character, but the sinister nature of his character didn't (and still doesn't) lie in his ability to produce spooky lanterns out of nowhere. Bray's fear factor lay in what you couldn't see, the fear that you don't see coming and won't ever see coming.
Bray Wyatt, much like Max Cady in Cape Fear, terrified his prey because of what he might be able to do. If that didn't work, much like Cady Wyatt is simply stronger than most of his rivals, and that should have always been the back up.
The Cady comparison will follow Wyatt until the end of the character, and this is no bad thing. There aren't many movie villains who come to mind who had such an unplaceable sinisterness, something that the Wyatt character should tap more into. Fear not the preposterous, fear the possible.
