In the eyes of some wrestling historians, the moment that Tony Schiavone told wrestling fans that Mick Foley was going to win the WWF Championship was the moment the worm turned in the Monday Night Wars. Fans turned over to see Mrs. Foley's Baby Boy climb to the top of the mountain. WCW, already in decline, never truly recovered from that moment.

Much like the ascension of Steve Austin to the top of the wrestling world, the irony of it all was that Foley had earlier made his name in WCW before being discarded. It was Cactus Jack who terrorised opponents in the mid-Atlantic, carving out a reputation for himself as one of the most engaging and brutal wrestlers on the planet.

Cactus Jack won just one championship in WCW. At Slamboree '94, Cactus teamed with Kevin Sullivan to defeat The Nasty Boys, picking up the WCW World Heavyweight Championship in the process. But by the time WCW Monday Nitro began airing, Cactus was performing in ECW ahead of his eventual move to the WWF.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
