5 Worst Examples Of WWE Manipulation
2. Editing Crowd Noise
Kevin Dunn is the mastermind behind WWE’s production; everything that’s said, which camera angles are used on the TV broadcast, and which sounds are amplified, are all decided by him. Apparently, that also includes editing the crowd noise during live broadcasts. While such a thing is to be expected on SmackDown, because it’s taped, it’s not something fans want to hear about on RAW.
There have been plenty of rumors suggesting that the crowd noise heard on television isn’t the same as what’s actually happening in arenas. Some have said that Daniel Bryan’s ‘Yes’ chants and Roman Reigns’ boos are being edited to sound quieter, and ‘NXT’ chants are often quieted as well. At the same time, pro-Cena, pro-Reigns and ‘This is Awesome’ chants are being amplified, with the latter being used to make some segments seem better than they really are.
If this is true, then WWE is creating a false sense of popularity for its stars. Fans who attend major WWE shows live are being drowned out when their cheers don’t align with WWE management’s goals, and sometimes they even pipe in certain chants when fans might not be cheering that much at all.
Vince claims that he’s listening to the fans, but what he might actually be doing is listening to an artificial chant created by the production team created to imitate the fans. People don’t like being told what to like and dislike but they especially don’t like it when someone pretends to speak on their behalf or put words in their mouth. With this kind of manipulation, that’s exactly what WWE is doing.
