5 Worst-Timed WWE Wellness Policy Suspensions
3. Jeff Hardy
Jeff Hardy is another who has well-documented issues with substance abuse.
He was fired by WWE in April 2003 due to perceived issues with drugs, which resulted in him no-showing several live events and turning up late for television tapings. WWE demanded Hardy go to rehab and, when he refused, they let him go.
Hardy returned in August 2006 and was, by all accounts, a reformed character. He'd cleaned himself up and got his mind focused in order to deal with the full-time schedule. It didn't take long for Hardy to act up, however, and he was suspended for 30 days in July 2007 for no-showing an episode of Raw.
The timing for that one wasn't so bad, even if Hady was in the middle of a programme with Umaga at the time. His next suspension, 60 days for violating the Wellness Policy, came at a much worse time. Jeff was riding high as Intercontinental Champion and was the favourite to win the Money in the Bank ladder match at WrestleMania XXIV when he tested positively for something.
The Charismatic Enigma dropped the IC strap to Jericho on Raw and was removed from the MITB match. Compounding his misery, his house burned to the ground in a fire four days after his suspension was announced, killing his pet dog, Jack. It was a truly awful time for the rainbow-haired warrior.
