5 WWE Hard Man Reputations That Were Completely Exposed

1. JBL

High school football star and all around jock JBL was one of the self-appointed locker room leaders in WWE. As a good friend of Undertaker, Vince McMahon and Triple H, he could pretty much do what he pleased in the early-mid 2000s. That mean having the new guys, being unnecessarily stiff in the ring and generally making an ass out of himself at the hotel bar. The internet's least favourite wrestler, he was. Much of that was down to the way he pummelled The Blue Meanie during the show-closing brawl at the original ECW One Night Stand PPV. JBL was drunk and decided to go after Meanie based on some pre-existing heat. Regardless, everyone agrees it was totally out of line. Yes, JBL wasn't afraid to lay those potatoes in there (usually when he knew the person he was in with wouldn't/couldn't fight back). Look at his match with Matt Hardy at Armageddon 2005. After sidestepping a planned chokeslam from the Undertaker at the end of Survivor Series, Matt was chewed out backstage and then booked against JBL, simply for the sole purpose of being 'taught a lesson'. He was decimated by JBL, who was really laying them in there. JBL's hard man reputation was erased in December 2008, however, when diminutive announcer Joey Styles knocked the big Texan out with a single punch on an airplane back from Iraq. Styles had been the victim of JBL's hazing for the whole week and had simply had enough. So he stood up to the bully and, in the process, exposed his reputation as being a tough guy. Good for him, I say.
