5 WWE Stars Who Are At A Career Crossroads

1. Shinsuke Nakamura

...and so does Shinsuke Nakamura.

Reports from Dave Meltzer suggest NJPW are interested in snapping up Naka once his WWE deal expires next January. Not only would that be quite the power play from New Japan bosses, it'd also be a bold decision by the wrestler himself. Not many would be willing to give up WWE security, after all.

Nakamura will be mindful that he hasn't become a full-time WWE main event star yet. Despite flirting with the top level for feuds with Jinder Mahal and AJ Styles over the past few years, and snagging a run as NXT Champion before that, Shinsuke has more recently nestled into life with SmackDown's mid-card title, the United States belt.

Getting his career back on an upward trajectory must be one of his main goals. If that's not possible in WWE, then he might decide making a splash online by returning home to his roots and bolstering New Japan's star power all at once is the ideal solution. It'd certainly get the wrestling world talking if he turned down a WWE extension and gate-crashed a NJPW supershow in early 2019.
