5 WWE Tag Team Reunions That Ruled (And 5 That Sucked)
1. The Legion Of Doom (2003)
Like Marty Jannetty, the Road Warriors/Legion of Doom were in and out over the years due to a number of reasons, like Hawks' drug test failure or displeasure with their creative direction. As a legendary tag team, though, they were continually brought back, to diminishing results, as their matches got worse and the storylines got more and more harebrained.
After the positively rotten 'Drunk Hawk' saga of 1998, The Warriors decided they'd had enough of the WWF circus and left for the independents but made one appearance for WWE on the May 12, 2003 episode of Raw, taking on World Tag Team Champions Kane &Rob Van Dam.
They had hoped to secure full-time contracts but nothing ever came of it and it's easy to see why. Hawk and Animal looked slow and old out there and the match wasn't very good. Even worse, though, was the fact that they completely no-sold both Kane and RVD's finishers, bouncing straight back to their feet after receiving a Chokeslam and a Five-Star Frog Splash from the unlikely duo.
Backstage, WWE road agents and those involved with running the show were furious. They couldn't believe that The Legion of Doom had blatantly went out of their way to protect themselves against their current champions and made it clear in the coming days that no job offer would be forthcoming.
Adding to the sadness of this whole situation is the fact that this was The Warriors' last televised appearance as a tag team, as Hawk would die of a heart attack just six months later.
