50 Best WCW Moments Ever
36. Kevin Nash Ends Goldberg’s Streak
Some out there would prefer this to be on a worst WCW moments list. That argument would definitely have some merit, but it was also a landmark match result for the promotion. Starrcade 1998 marked the first time that Bill Goldberg had stared at the lights for anyone. That has to count for something, and that's why it's here in the lower half.
It'd be remiss not to mention the impact Goldberg's winning streak had on WCW business. The nWo, Sting, DDP, Ric Flair and more boosted the promotion's hopes of toppling the WWF, sure, but Goldberg was a bolt from the blue and a reminder that the company could create fresh stars who had zero Vince McMahon ties.
Seeing him lose felt huge.
Scott Hall's taser bit was hokey, admittedly. Even so, Nash getting the 'W' over Bill was one of WCW's most shocking visuals. Literally nobody thought it was going to happen, not least because Goldberg was still riding high as a champion babyface at the time. He couldn't go on unbeaten forever though. Something had to give, so he got zapped.
