Earlier, Arn Anderson's emotional retirement from the 25 August 1997 Nitro was explored. That had Ric Flair gushing like he'd been backstage cutting onions all night before walking through the curtain. 'Slick Ric' was crying all over again on the 14 September episode, but for different reasons. This was a reunion, baby.

The Four Horsemen were back on track.

Flair was actually returning to WCW telly for the first time since April. He'd been locked in a tense legal standoff with the company/Eric Bischoff for no-showing a Thunder show off-screen, but now he was back in action. Everything seemed right with the world as Arn and Ric ushered in a new era for the Horsemen alongside Steve McMichael, Chris Benoit and Dean Malenko.

Unfortunately, this wouldn't last all that long, but it was rewarding for old school fans to see Arn settle into his new role as Flair's advisor as younger names like Benoit and Malenko did most of the in-ring work. That mid-September reunion had people off their seats and cheering for Ric's return from the wilderness.

Order was restored, at least temporarily.
