50 Must-See WrestleMania Matches

36. Randy Savage Vs. Ted DiBiase – WrestleMania 4

It’s really a shame that WrestleMania 4 went down the way it did. Holding a 14-man tournament for the vacant WWF Championship ended up making for a dull show with numerous short matches.

Still, this became the first Mania main event that ended without Hulk Hogan getting the victory or leaving with the world championship – though he was heavily involved in the title match.

The bout between Ted DiBiase and “Macho Man” Randy Savage wasn’t a classic, but it was an important one, as it launched Savage into the stratosphere. He was at his most popular and was absolutely ready to become champ. DiBiase was the hottest heel in the company and easily could have walked with the title and generated some serious house show business.
