The thought of Randy Savage retiring in 1991 seems silly in hindsight, especially considering that he would go on to amass five more world championship reigns in the following eight years. But when the Macho Man and Ultimate Warrior squared off at WrestleMania 7, Savage’s in-ring career was on the line.

Savage would lose the match but gain reconciliation with Miss Elizabeth in the post-match fallout with Sensational Sherri. The reunion was masterfully done and led to Savage “proposing” to his real-life wife and the couple getting married at SummerSlam that year. The match was probably Warrior’s best in-ring performance and led to Savage’s transition to the commentary table.
