As part of Shawn Michaels’ ascension back to the top the wrestling landscape, he continued doing what he does best: stealing the show at WrestleMania.

In 2005, HBK locked up with another top-of-his-game performer, Kurt Angle, and wowed fans with a near-perfect match. This followed a spectacular feud that included Angle singing HBK’s “Sexy Boy” theme song with Sensational Sherri and wrestling Marty Jannetty.

Michaels would go on to tap out to Angle’s anklelock, but both men shined in this performance. HBK was in the phase of his career where he would have phenomenal matches with anybody and everybody regardless of outcome, and that was a great period for fans who enjoyed technical matches.
