The original concept for Money in the Bank was to give a bunch of wrestlers a WrestleMania payday while providing an interesting concept: the winner gets a briefcase that allows them to cash it in for a world title match at any time, up to an including the following years WrestleMania. This continued for a few years before it was spun off into its own summertime PPV. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XsBZCXkT40E The first MITB match featured Edge, Chris Benoit, Chris Jericho, Shelton Benjamin, Christian and Kane. Five of them have been world champions, so that gives you an idea of the level of talent in the ring (and Shelton was no slouch either). The match featured innovative spots in introducing a great new concept to WrestleMania. It also helped lead to Edges nickname, the Ultimate Opportunist. What more do you need for a Mania match?
