50 Ruthless Aggression Era Superstars Ranked From Worst To Best

23. Booker T

WWE

Pros:

1. Very good wrestler

2. Was hilarious while teaming with Goldust, and an excellent heel as King Booker

3. Everyone loves the Spinarooni

Cons:

1. REALLY should’ve won the World Title at WrestleMania XIX

2. Was stuck in midcard purgatory for many years

3. Was also involved in some awkward feuds and moments

On the whole, though, Booker T’s run with WWE could be best described as ‘underwhelming’. Despite being a great and well-rounded wrestler, Booker was held down by a number of factors. First, he was a WCW guy, and some of WWE’s power-brokers didn’t want a guy who became a star elsewhere to make it big in Vince’s company.

Second, he was a victim of backstage politicking on the part of certain main-eventers, and some have even suggested that his storyline for WrestleMania XIX was racist undertones.

While he did enjoy a World Title run, that was under the King Booker gimmick, which was laughable in its awkwardness and delivery. Having Booker T trying to speak like British royalty was terribly bizarre, and it did nothing to present him as a World Title-caliber wrestler.

If anything, King Booker was one big joke, and it really hurt the credibility of one of WWE’s best wrestlers on the roster at the time.
