Pros:

1. Excellent wrestler

2. Great at cutting a promo

3. Had the look and appeal that fit the new ECW image

Cons:

1. Most of his star power came from his pre-WWE days, and so regular people didn’t like him as much

2. Wasn’t taken seriously by management, even after winning the WHC in 2008

3. Stole his finisher from KENTA

Who would’ve thought that, less than ten years after being signed by WWE, Punk would reach the top of the mountain, get sent back down, reach it again, become the most popular Superstar in the entire company, and then leave on such bad terms that he’s now persona non grata?

Punk arrived in WWE during the latter half of the Ruthless Aggression Era, but he still managed to make an impression on the company that would carry him to bigger and better things after that period ended. Although he spent most of his time on ECW, he was still one of the most popular wrestlers on that show.

When he finally debuted on RAW in 2008, he made a major impact by cashing his MiTB briefcase and winning the World Heavyweight Championship.

Sadly, Punk’s ego and conflict with backstage politics led to his title reign being cut short, and he wouldn’t reach his true zenith until 2011. It still makes for an interesting story when you look at how much he accomplished in WWE, and it really makes you wonder if what he said about his departure is as true as he claims.
