12. Batista

Pros:

1. Build like a tank

2. Popular as a babyface

3. Had genuinely good matches once he reached the main event level

Cons:

1. Wasn’t that good at speaking

2. Was much older than other main eventers

3. Suffered one too many serious injuries

Batista had a simple gimmick: he was a brute who demolished his opponents with little effort. He certainly looked the part: at 6’6 and 315 pounds, the man was a monster that put on surprisingly good matches for someone whom you’d expect would be limited by his own size. That’s why Batista was such a popular WWE Superstar: he was a naturally unstoppable force. There was no way he would’ve every stayed as Evolution’s muscle for longer than he did.

Batista was a multi-time World Champion, and it’s not hard to see why: he drew in fans from multiple different demographics, acting as the cool, soft-spoken physical beast that was the antithesis to John Cena’s promo-heavy and often-corny Superhero character.

Maybe it’s that subtle badassery he exudes that made him the perfect person to play Drax the Destroyer in Guardians of the Galaxy.

Of course, being so big and muscular has its downsides: he didn’t work particularly well with other big men (with few exceptions), and he was more likely to suffer muscle tears. Both of those things ended up happening, and Batista had to relinquish his World Title. Unfortunately, that problem would rear its ugly head again in the future.
