12. Poor Rey Mysterio Didn’t See 2014 Coming!

The build up to this sorry state of affairs begins as soon as anyone fires on the 2014 Rumble and CM Punk makes his entrance as #1. You know what's about to happen. The live crowd in Pittsburgh wanted Daniel Bryan more than anything in the whole wide world, but WWE wouldn't budge. Batista was the comeback king ready to punch his WrestleMania ticket, and people were far from happy about it.

A toxic mood created by the booking and Boo-tista's return trickled down onto other legends too. Things would be rectified by the #30 slot though, eh? Surely Bryan, who had lost to Bray Wyatt on the undercard, would rush out and put everything right. No - Rey Mysterio was the final entrant, and he was booed out of the building. Well, WWE's decision to put anyone but Bryan in that spot was jeered heavily, at least.

Batista won the match and did some sign pointing (such was becoming the norm), and the live crowd rebelled. Spare a thought for poor Rey though. He was also booed hard, which is so, so odd to witness considering his legendary status. Christ, he was even a legend back then! You'd never get this sort of reaction to his entrances in any Rumble now.

Mysterio was perceptive enough to feel the heat and shift to the ring pronto. His two-minute showing wasn't satisfying enough to quell the discontented masses who believed they'd been shafted by a company that didn't view Bryan the same way they did. If only big Dave had thought to grab the mic and yell, 'Are you not entertained?!'.

That would've been some heel turn, but that wasn't WWE's plan.
