50 Things You Learn Binge-Watching Every WWE WrestleMania
41. That Classic MSG Camera Angle Is Lush
You know the one.
The one showing the entrance in the background rather than a traditional hard cam view of the crowd. That angle always added a unique atmosphere to older Madison Square Garden shows before the setup changed in later years. It looked phenomenal when watching WrestleMania X again, and it helped that show stand out from the rest. Those who know will understand this: It just looks…right.
Huge trons showing flashy graphics were still years away, so the WWF had to go minimalist for 'Mania X and have the large roman numeral across doors right at the entrance. That, with the classic show logo above it, was more than enough. Big banners were unfurled around MSG to add more splashes of colour to the black and gold aesthetic. There's something so immediately pleasing on the eye about these non-traditional hard cam setups. There were fans on either side of the entrance, and above it.
'Mania IX might've been the true death of Hulkamania as the company's main priority, but 1994's event might be the final one with that retro WWF feel. Things got a little lower rent and gritty heading into 1995 as budgets were slashed and fears the gravy train was over dominated conversation around the water coolers at Titan Towers; if they still had water coolers by that point!
