50 Things You Learn Binge-Watching Every WWE WrestleMania
4. 37’s Second Female Headliner Beat The First
Becky Lynch, Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair will always grace wrestling's history books as the first ever female WrestleMania main event. That's something nobody can take away from the trio (even those who think it should've been a straight up one on one between Ronda and Becky), but they can't claim to be the best as well as the first. That acclaim belongs to two other women.
Bianca Belair vs. Sasha Banks was a vastly superior match to Becky vs. Ronda vs. Charlotte at ‘Mania 35. Again, that triple threat will always carry historical weight, but Belair vs. Banks at 'Mania 37 was one million times better as a pure match. It was a true coming of age performance for Bianca, and might well be the last truly excellent Sasha bout on a major pay-per-view too. Sorry to anyone who has lapped up her work as Mercedes Mone since.
Each to their own, but it'd take a brave fan to suggest anything in more recent years tops this.
Michael Cole botched the bout's finish in an embarrassing moment. However, there's enough to Belair vs. Banks to make up for that, and Cole's commentary performance for 99.9% of the headliner was typically flawless. If one chips away the historical significance of 35's three-way, then it wasn't actually that fabulous a match. Bianca vs. Sasha very much was, though their on/off 'frenemies' build probs wasn't as well done as 2019's brawl-heavy effort.
This is still the last all-female 'Mania main event at time of writing. It'll take something pretty monumental to top it next time WWE gives women the floor.
