45. Ultimate Challenge Intro Is An All-Timer

In order to attain the gravelly tone needed for an old school WWF pay-per-view intro, one must put on a few Pantera albums and scream themselves hoarse. Then, follow that up by letting your mouth fill up with saliva. After that, press play on WrestleMania VI's cosmos-themed opening and have at it. By the time you reach: "...it's title for title, it's the ultimate challenge, it's WrestleManiaaaaaaaaaaargh", you'll be golden.

Or you'll need some cough sweeties. Worth it either way.

Vince McMahon laid down the soundtrack for 'Mania VI's open, and it's still one of the most nostalgic WWE moments of all time. It's goofy, over the top and silly, but the voiceover is also so much fun. All that chat about Hulk Hogan and The Ultimate Warrior being two of the most powerful forces in the galaxy as hangover Atari graphics from the 80s beam across the screen? Yes, yes and indeed...yes.

This is what people picture when they think of that early WWF boom, not the first WrestleMania. No, there isn't another rant about to be volleyed the way of Dwayne Johnson, but 1990's babyface vs. babyface match pitting Hulk vs. Warrior needed something this out there to help sell it. Fans were already excited, but this tipped everyone over the edge and gave WrestleMania VI its own aura.

Thankfully, the match met that hyperbole halfway. This was one of Warrior's finest showings. Not the finest, but it's definitely up there considering he was never known as some technical wizard between the ropes. Being honest, 'Mania VI would've been less than without the growling intro.
