50 Ups & 50 Downs For WWE's Decade: The 2010s

44. The Brock Lesnar & Goldberg Rivalry

Commencing with a match that first appeared to be an almighty troll job from WWE to its paying punter, the 2016/17 Goldberg Vs Brock Lesnar rivalry was handled masterfully from the first face off.

A Survivor Series showdown brought Big Bill back into the fold but couldn't overexpose him in the 1:26 it was allotted. Lesnar's selling of this old-but-new shockwave was vital too - it informed the same thing happening again when the two went face-to-face in a white hot Royal Rumble spot. Having taken Goldberg's number, the former WCW Champion took Kevin Owens' Universal Championship to try and do it one final time.

'The Beast' was wild but wise in their mini-epic at WrestleMania 33, dodging a killer Spear just long enough to take the title and a slice of his pride back from a sh*tkicking sprint. The pair hadn't just righted a WrestleMania XX wrong - they'd eradicated the byword for a calamity that once abused their names.
