John Cena is still where the money is in WWE.

Almost all of the new talent that Vince McMahon and his creative team want to be taken seriously have tangled with Cena shortly upon their call-up to the main roster. He made an instant star of Kevin Owens and worked wonders for AJ Styles. Samoa Joe too will reap the benefits of working with the ‘Face that Runs the Place’ this autumn, judging from their confrontation on the post-SummerSlam RAW.

New feuds for Cena keep him fresh and help prevent the apathy that turned fans into haters in the late 2000s. Roode would be another former TNA talent who would be worthy of sharing the ring with Cena, but he cannot use the well-travelled wrestler with a grudge grievance that Styles, and probably Joe, will use as their motivation.

Roode’s incentive to square off with the leader of the Cenation is simple; to have the most GLORIOUS match in the history of WrestleMania. The newest member of SmackDown Live has previously confessed that Cena at The Showcase of Immortals is his dream match, as per wrestlinginc.com, but he is not alone in having that ambition.

Cena seems headed for a historic showdown with Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 34, so Roode might have to be patient. But Cena has plenty of ‘Manias left in him and, if WWE are going to push him as strongly as Meltzer claims, then it could be Roode in 2019.
