6 Damning Things Jinder Mahal's Title Reign Says About WWE
2. Titles Have Never Been So Worthless
WWE have been inept at preserving their championships' aura and prestige for decades now, and while this is partly forgivable on the midcard, no excuses can be made for what they've done to their supposed "top prize." Unfortunately, the WWE Title is now nothing more than a trinket, and while the decline started long before Mahal entered the scene, his reign has exacerbated it.
Jinder won the belt with little to no build, and his since defended it in some of the most tiresome title matches in history. His bouts are entirely skippable. They should be the highlight of every card.
Who wants to follow a pay-per-view all the way to a Mahal main event? He's a dull, unengaging worker, and there's no variety in his bouts, with each one ending through Singh Brothers chicanery. The WWE Champion should be the biggest star in the company, but the bookers have done nothing to make Jinder look important, and this is reflected in the belt.
Reaching the top shouldn't be easy, yet here we are. Mahal's coronation didn't come at the end of a great story or a prolonged rise to greatness, and he has undermined all who came before him, and anyone who'd seek to hold the gold in the future.
