6 Damning Things Jinder Mahal's Title Reign Says About WWE
1. They Still Aren't Listening
The McMahons are safe in their ivory tower. Their market dominance is assured, and barring an implausible catastrophe, they'll never be challenged again. They can afford to do whatever they want, whenever they want, because while their viewership is dwindling, there's nowhere else for their base (who'll tune in every week, regardless of what they're being served) to go.
They don't give a damn about what you think, because they don't have to, and sadly, Jinder's point proves that nothing has changed.
He's one of the most reviled WWE Champions of all time, but not in a good way. Few fans legitimately boo Mahal. If he gets heat, it's not through effective heel work, but because people just don't want to see him. His recent promo on Shinsuke Nakamura perfectly illustrates his failings: designed to get 'The Maharaja' jeered out of the building, it generated only a brief "that's too far" chant when things became too xenophobic, after which the crowd soon quietened down again.
Mahal has never been over, yet here we are: screaming into the void four months later. It's a sad state of affairs, and while WWE shouldn't be expected to cater to every single fan demand, this issue's magnitude should be too big to ignore.
