6 Huge First-Time Matches WWE Have Totally Wasted In 2017

1. Braun Strowman Vs. Brock Lesnar

Brock Lesnar shouldn't be facing Roman Reigns in WrestleMania 34's main event, but Braun Strowman.

We've known of WWE's plans to book this 'Beast' vs. 'Big Dog' clash for months, and it could start at No Mercy. Roman will presumably defeat John Cena, with Strowman taking a protected loss to Lesnar, who'll retain the Universal Title, then carry it all the way to New Orleans, where he'll lose it.

This is a major downer. It's not that Lesnar vs. Reigns won't be great (their WrestleMania 31 bout was one of the year's best), but the tension between Brock and Braun is hotter than the Earth's molten core. They're the two most captivating performers in the company, and exhibited incredible chemistry during SummerSlam's chaotic main event, but WWE's lack of patience got the better of them.

Strowman vs. Lesnar is the match the people want to see in New Orleans. They'll likely have an awesome scrap at No Mercy, but this kind of big theatre spectacle demands the sport's biggest stage. A months-long feud pitting WWE's two most destructive forces against each other would be bags of fun, but alas, it'll headline a B-level PPV, and fans will be forced to endure another Roman Reigns WrestleMania coronation instead.
