6 Most Embarrassing Things To Ever Happen Inside A UFC Cage

4. Gray Maynard Knocks Himself Out

One of the more bizarre finishes in UFC history took place back in 2007 at The Ultimate Fighter 5 Finale.

In a preliminary bout, former NCAA Division I wrestler (and future UFC title challenger) Gray Maynard took on karate specialist Rob Emerson in their respective UFC debuts.

About midway through the second round, Maynard was able to scoop his opponent up, hoist him in the air, and then proceeded to slam the karate black belt to the ground with tremendous force.

Emerson wasn't able to continue after the slam. However, neither was Maynard.

While dropping his opponent to the mat, the wrestler had landed head first and essentially knocked himself out.

With both men unable to continue, the bout was ruled a no contest.

Despite an embarrassing debut, Maynard would go on to have an outstanding career in the UFC.
