Jim Cornette probably received this news like Macauley Culkin applying aftershave - for the star of 'Home Alone' indulged in a bit of naff comedy at a flea market show over the weekend, thereby killing wrestling in the process, or something. In reality, it was just a bit grim.

At Joey Ryan's recent Bar Wrestling show, guest Culkin performed a spot in which he let some marbles loose across the ring apron; two heels subsequently spilled over, and in something of an indictment of the wrestling fringe, the selling of Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern was far superior. As soon as he did so, the fans in attendance roared "Home Alone! Home Alone! Home Alone!" - a more ironic wrestling chant, you'll never hear. That chant is far, far more irritating than any criticisms of comedy wrestling and the like. It was so one-the-nose and so weirdly flamboyant that they might as well have chanted "We've seen films! We've seen films! We've seen films!"

None of this matters, obviously, it's just mental that some wrestling fans cannot digest anything, but rather put themselves over at every single opportunity. Worse still, there is a subset of performers catering specifically to them, marginalising themselves in the process. On this evidence, they probably won't get to star in the big budget New York sequel...

At the very least, a healthy and happy looking Culkin seemed to get a kick out of it. In a way, given Culkin's troubled recent history, it was nice.
