6 Most Insane Things Happening In Wrestling Right Now (Oct 27)

2. UNDER SIEGE!

The premise of SmackDown is the “land of opportunities”- and naturally, since there are significantly fewer titles and feature matches than there are members of the roster, many of those folks are disgruntled at not having received enough opportunities. That’s the entire narrative drive of the entire show.

So why, then, would the vast majority of them unite in order to take Monday Night RAW “Under Siege” this week? Mojo Rawley was annoyed last week at being overlooked in the doubles division, but throwing on a blue t-shirt somehow convinced him to do Shane McMahon’s bidding - the same Shane McMahon who has overlooked him time and time again. Even though he hasn’t, because Mojo has taken part in more multi-man contendership bouts than NFL matches. Even though he never wins and thus shouldn’t be anywhere near them. It’s a bloody mess of plot holes, wherever you stand.

Dolph Ziggler and Bobby Roode dropped their programme temporarily in order to batter some guys who, in essence, switched sides arbitrarily six months ago with no real storyline logic. They resumed hostilities 24 hours later, but it’s okay. Dolph excused it with a terrible joke. The angle might make a lick of sense, if WWE had bothered to create the illusion of a competitive rivalry throughout the year. They hadn’t. Some people do prefer RAW to SmackDown, and vice versa, but it’s hardly the crips and the bloods, as far as a battle between red and blue goes.

How many people really invest emotionally in the war between RAW and SmackDown?

The same amount of people who refer to wrestling as sports entertainment, presumably.
