It took a long road for Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa to reach the top of the mountain, but they finally pulled it off at TakeOver: Toronto. DIY pulled-off a sensational victory to finally end The Revival’s run as NXT Tag Team Champions, and after defeating them again on NXT television a few weeks ago, they’ve more than put the former “Top Guys” in their place.

Gargano and Ciampa are full of momentum at the moment, but so are their opponents. There’s been no stopping The Authors of Pain since their arrival last year, and they’ve established their reputation as NXT’s most dominant team by bulldozing the competition. They won the second annual Dusty Classic to earn this shot, beating TM-61 in the process, and will bring a significant size, strength, and power advantage to the table.

Can Paul Ellering’s charges pull it off? Absolutely. They’re going to be a staple of NXT’s tag scene for a long time to come, even if they’re far from main roster ready at the moment. That being said, DIY’s run is barely two months old, and for all they went through to win the belts in the first place, it’d be a shame to nip their reign in the bud so early. Look for Gargano in particularly to take a heavy beating throughout the match but for the popular duo to retain by the skin of their teeth, possibly through disqualification.
