6 Reasons Why Baron Corbin Isn't Ready To Be WWE Champion

2. John Cena Would Be A Better Victim

Due to John Cena putting Corbin through the announce table post-SmackDown, it looks like the pair will square off at SummerSlam one-on-one. Corbin must win that match; if Cena is taking more time off for outside projects after the pay-per-view anyway, a Baron win is logical. The big man can't lose, it's as simple as that.

Things would actually be better for Corbin if Cena had beaten Nakamura and then vanquished Jinder Mahal at SummerSlam, because at least then he'd have had a babyface to cash in on. As things stand, the match against Cena can be used to further prepare Baron for sustained appearances in SmackDown main events, so there's a silver lining at least.

Someone like Cena is exactly who Corbin should be beating for the WWE Title. A strong character fans take seriously is needed in order to ensure the MITB briefcase to WWE Title moment works to its maximum. Until WWE have that strong babyface champion fans like, they should rip up any plans to have Corbin cash in.
