6 Reasons Why Baron Corbin Isn't Ready To Be WWE Champion

3. Corbin Just Lost To Shinsuke Nakamura

During his feuds against everyone from Kalisto to Sami Zayn and Shinsuke Nakamura, Corbin was made to look dominant one minute then humble the next. Even though 50/50 booking is widespread in WWE these days, it did nothing to make Baron look like an unstoppable beast who was readying himself for the top titles.

At both Battleground and on the subsequent episode of SmackDown, Corbin lost to Nakamura in back-to-back matches. Granted, one was a disqualification loss, but that was followed quickly by a clean pinfall defeat on television. WWE can't prepare one star (Nakamura) for the title scene by sacrificing another (Corbin), then expect fans to treat that defeated wrestler as a credible candidate for the WWE Title.

The losses left Corbin lacking momentum but gunning for the title anyway. What is this obsession with booking Money In The Bank winners to lose? Simply holding the briefcase isn't enough, we as fans need tangible evidence a wrestler is progressing up the ladder.
