6 Reasons Why Seth Rollins Was Going To Lose The WWE Title Anyway
6. He Wasn't Going To Beat Any Records
It would be foolish to think that Rollins was going to be the kind of WWE Champion that would break records. What his reign did was establish him as a true top guy in the company. Any time somebody holds a title for 180 days (about half a year) or more that's significant and anything past that is great. There was some chatter among the Internet Wrestling Community that WWE may have Rollins top 434 days to beat the number that CM Punk had (from Survivor Series 2011 to Royal Rumble 2013). What needs to be stated is that Punk never actually had a record. He didn't come close to the nearly eight-year WWE Title record held by Bruno Sammartino. While it's easy to believe that WWE wanted Rollins to have a lengthy reigns in order to make people forget about Punk, it's not like WWE was going to mention Punk at all. It's different to Nikki Bella recently beating AJ Lee's record for longest Divas Title reign because that was actually the record and the company doesn't dislike Lee like they do Punk. To them, Punk won't ever be mentioned on WWE TV while they can still talk about Lee to some extent.
