6 Reasons Women's Money In The Bank Ladder Match Must Happen This Year

4. The Losing Winner

The early days of Money in the Bank were extremely exciting. Whoever won the match was as good as guaranteed a world championship run, and it was through the medium that Edge, Rob Van Dam, CM Punk, and more embarked on their first world championship reigns. It all became a little predictable soon after however, as the story was crushed by the sheer inevitability of it all.

The women have a blank slate in this regard. The winner of a hypothetical women's Money in the Bank ladder match would be in entirely uncharted territory, and this represents a chance for WWE to have another crack at the entire trope. For the males, for a long time winning Money in the Bank was as good as winning the world title - for the women, the story can be very different.

For the sake of an example, let's say that Carmella defies the odds and wins the briefcase. Her excitement and inexperience (or that meddling Ellsworth) could then get the better of her as she cashes in a little too early, failing to win the championship in the process. Immediately the briefcase trope is reinvigorated.
