Of course, the idea of a 'best wrestler on the planet' involves a whole lot of subjectivity. Some may say that Kazuchika Okada's ability to have fantastic matches with a variety of opponents makes him the best. Others will point at Kenny Omega's creativity, Ricochet's fluidity, Marty Scurll's control of character, or even at Randy Orton's chinlocks.

One objective fact is that AJ Styles is an integral part of any discussion on the subject. Ever since he arrived in WWE in January 2016, The Phenomenal One has been on a tear in the company, desperate to prove that he belongs on the biggest stage. Styles has made an absolute fool out of anyone who ever doubted that fact.

Styles has competed in two ladder matches so far in WWE, both of which were fantastic. One of them was against James Ellsworth, and the fact that Styles was able to put Ellsworth over the way he did is testament to his ability. AJ is WWE's best wrestler right now, and he also happens to be one of the promotion's most insane bumpers.

It has often been said that AJ wrestles like he has a death wish, and such things almost inevitably create fireworks when ladders are involved.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
