The WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament was a huge success, and set the company’s year off to an excellent start. Announced abruptly in December, the two-night affair made stars of the likes of Pete Dunne and Mark Andrews, and crowned 19-year-old Tyler Bate as the company’s first ever UK Champion. Both nights were full of exciting, hard-hitting action, and Bate, Dunne, and Trent Seven all appeared on the last set of NXT TV tapings.

Triple H mentioned the prospect of a new UK-based WWE Network show at the initial press conference, but there has been no follow-up thus far. Barrios and McMahon touched on the subject during their call, however, noting that the tournament did very well locally, and this was reflected around the world.

McMahon stated that WWE are still considering a UK TV show, but they have nothing to announce at the current time. He added that several UK talents have already appeared on WWE programming and will continue to do so, and that the company’s partners are very interested in a potential show. To cap it all off, Vince claimed that the buzz from the UK tournament was still incredibly strong throughout the company, and that this will influence their final decision.
