Take Some Cues From Lucha Underground

Unlike other wrestling promotions, Lucha Underground doesn’t ask wrestling fans to try and suspend their disbelief.

The over the top special effects they use for combat sequences in their promos and storylines that involve wrestlers (like Konnan) actually dying make it clear that what you are watching is entertainment and not an actual sporting event. This gives their television product a unique feel and provides almost limitless possibilities creatively.

Let’s be honest: WWE seems to be in a bit of a rut from a creative standpoint.

Their SmackDown Champion Jinder Mahal is involved in the tired foreign invader storyline that fans have seen for decades. Furthermore, WWE creative has failed to come up with a way to control fans reactions to major stars like Roman Reigns and John Cena.

By following Lucha Undergrounds lead and throwing kayfabe out the window, WWE ‘s creative team would have the opportunity to create some fresh storylines in order to address some of the previously mentioned issues.
