6 Things You Should Know About WWE Hopeful/Ex-UFC Fighter Matt Riddle

1. His WWE Tryout

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ems6z_BEz2Y In May, Riddle will try out for the WWE. This is not a tryout designed specifically for him to showcase his skill set. In reality, the WWE holds multiple tryouts each year, and last year signed several wrestlers out of them. The average time between signing and actually making it onto the WWE roster is somewhere around the two year mark, which makes Riddle's age right on the border really - he'll be in his early thirties before really getting a shot, unless he turns out to be exceptionally talented. That said, his trainers think highly of his work rate. According to Waltman, Matt Riddle "has the potential to be Kurt Angle caliber." Waltman went on to say that
He's a way bigger fan than Angle was for starters. His technique is razor sharp. His mind hasn't caught up with his physical attributes and aptitude for pro wrestling yet, but when it does, this guy's going to be a big time player.
That's high praise from a guy that, while often derided by fans, had a fair amount of success in the WWE. After trying out, Riddle will probably be looking at a couple of months and clearing additional medical tests, including drug screenings, before moving forward. It should be noted that under the WWE Wellness policy, marijuana use can lead to a fine, but there's no suspension, and his medical license may resolve that. In any case, soon enough, WWE fans will know if another UFC fighter might just turn up on WWE programming at some point.
