6 Times John Cena Quickly Rose Above Injury

6. Torn Pectoral (2007)

Cena had just surpassed one full year with the WWE Championship, a milestone for the belt not seen since Randy Savage reigned for as long in 1988-89. During a routine match with Mr. Kennedy on the October 1, 2007 episode of Raw, Cena executed a simple hip toss, and immediately recoiled in pain. The diagnosis in the aftermath was a torn pectoral. The championship was relinquished 24 hours later, and Cena was facing a six to eight month recovery time, minimum. A WrestleMania appearance looked to be in serious jeopardy. That's why it was stunning when Cena entered the 2008 Royal Rumble at no. 30, popping even a cynical New York crowd with his unadvertised appearance. Cena won the match and went on the road to WrestleMania unhindered.
