6 Times John Cena Quickly Rose Above Injury

5. Herniated Disc (2008)

Little more than six months after returning early from the pectoral tear, Cena was once more shelved. At SummerSlam, he was engaged in a highly-underrated battle of superheroes against fellow babyface Batista, and it was there that Cena suffered a pretty serious neck injury (ostensibly off of a flying legdrop countered into a powerbomb, but not entirely certain). The injury was later worked into their WrestleMania storyline in 2010, after Batista turned heel. As for the injury (a fragmented compression that caused numbness in his right arm), the early prognosis looked bad, with early estimates putting recover time at upwards of a year. Following surgery, Cena's timetable for return improved to two to four months, and he was back in just under three.
