6 Ups & 0 Downs From AEW Rampage: Championship Friday (June 2)

4. Electrifying Lucha Action

El Hijo Del Vikingo AEW
AEW

You'd have to be a right grump not to applaud the efforts of El Hijo del Vikingo, Kommander and Dralistico during Rampage's opener. The lucha trio raced through a series of spots that were often silky-smooth, and they conjured up images of the old WCW Cruiserweight matches that upped the energy on Nitro.

That's a huge compliment, by the way.

Vikingo's AAA Mega Championship was up for grabs. Whilst it was never realistically changing hands on Rampage, the bout did have a zip to it that's difficult to ignore. El Hijo's 630 senton bump through a table looked unreal, and it's clear the live crowd were loving every single second.

Sometimes, it's absolutely fine to spotlight a match like this and just give energised workers 10 minutes plus to show off their skills. This is the most comfortable Vikingo has looked in AEW to date, and that's no accident. He was in there with guys he knows well.
