6 Ups & 0 Downs From AEW Rampage: Championship Friday (June 2)

3. A Complete Contrast In Styles

Action Andretti Zack Sabre Jr
AEW

It might be news to some, but the guy writing this has commentated countless matches involving Zack Sabre Jr over the years. That's why eyebrows were raised in this household when AEW announced that high-flyer Action Andretti would oppose him on Rampage. They gelled well despite the contrast in styles.

What a pleasant surprise.

Andretti, to his credit, largely worked Sabre Jr's kind of ground-based match, but smartly managed to get some of his flying in. His bid to constantly up the pace became the bout's theme; above, you can see Action going for something high-impact, but being countered by Zack's submission-based style.

This NJPW World TV Title match was a total departure from the lucha three-way that opened Rampage, and that helped as well. The fact they somehow avoided the usual picture-in-picture ad break interruptions was also a sneaky bonus.

Just excellent, excellent pro wrestling.
