6 Ups & 1 Down From AEW Dynamite (February 7 - Results & Review)
5. Big Announcement Is In Fact Big
In what will be the AEW debut of Mercedes Moné, Tony Khan announced that a special edition of Dynamite - Big Business - will emanate from the TD Garden in Boston on March 13.
The obvious parallel to be drawn here is the First Dance. This should differ, though, in that Moné should wrestle a match. That's what she's the best at - some might argue in the history of women's wrestling in the US - and a repeat of her odd, flat debut at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom last year is a potential concern.
Regardless, this is incredibly refreshing and bold - and, quite frankly, overdue. Finally, a women's wrestler is getting the real star treatment - the star treatment reserved only for CM Punk, historically. Tony Khan could build untold goodwill, were he, after five years, to finally crack the women's division.
Moné is an incredible worker and genuine needle-mover. Handled correctly - and the announcement was a promising indication that it will be - this move could be as big a free agent signing as Khan has ever made.
